Last Spec before order (unsure on MB)

Ok this will hopefuly be my last spec check before I order and attempt my first ever build. I still however dont know which MB to get, I was going to go for the Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi but I dont like all the faff that will be needed to make one work with Conroe. So if someone could suggest a new motherboard and conirm all this stuff will fit together (and work) ill be clicking the button this weekend. :)

Couple of questions here, why are you getting 2x X1900XT cards? If you aren't playing at (very) high resolutions it probably isn't worth it. Why are you going for the 6700 over the 6600? Will you not be overclocking anyway or is it just because it is in stock? If so £150 premium to have it on the 1st of August rather than ? seems a shade steep to me :)

I'd probably suggest something like a Gigabyte DS4 motherboard as it seems to be well specified with decent overclocking options. The Intel Badaxe motherboard supports Crossfire I believe so that might be worth a look if you are definitely going Crossfire.
 
I play at 1920x1200 and I may or maynot try to overclock Ive never done it before and havent decided yet. Thx for the MB advice. :)
 
i agree with semi pro waster on the mobo choice. Looks to be a good clocker.

BTW with the e6700 you invalidate the warranty if you dont overclock it.
 
Firstly as mentioned above 2 gfx cards is a total waste of money unlesss running something like a 24" or 30" display.

As for the Mobo choice atm I would go for either the Gigabyte DS3 or the DS4, both of which are out of the box compatible with Conroe as they have the new 965p chipset.... Most other Conroe boards around atm still have the old 975x chipset which has only been adapted for Conroe and not designed with it in mind.

Plus the E6600 is much better value for money than the E6700!
 
Yea my monitors a dell 2407, and I'll be getting a Gigabyte GA_965P_DQ6 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-058-GI) for my motherboard. Thanks for your help guys. :)
 
Drake, yeh very good choices, however you might want to go to the overclockers shop in person and pick it all up, as its in stoke on trent, if your near you might aswell get it early and save on delivery ;)
 
Yea I probably will if I have a chance. :) and just to be totally sure... the motherboard I specified above is crossfire compatible right? sorry but the closer I get to ordering all this stuff the more paranoid I get that ill get it wrong. >.<
