I promise this'll be my last spec check guys!

Finally decided to go Intel rather than Phenom due to the poor clocking on recent Phenom chips and the recent price hike.

My HD3870's arrived this morning and I've got optical drives, an Antec p182 and a Thermalright 120a Ultra.

I've also got a *cough*Hipertyper580w*cough* which is crossfire certified and has been fine for the last 2 years running 7800gt's in sli and a 7900gto so it should be fine :D

Here it is

I'm intending to clock the e2180 to within an inch of its life and I won't be happy with anything less than 3.4 :D Then I'll probably be upgrading to a Q9450 a couple of months after they come out when prices stabilise.

Everything look ok and compatible?

Thanks guys

s'fine, but don't come crying if you get fireworks in your case with that psu :P

i recomend you back up frequently, personal experience :(

mine was fine for 18 months then over 3 or 4 days.. gone... nowt

If it does go will it take everything else with it or just go pop and refuse to boot up?

I'm not trying to be cheap and skimp on the most important part of the system but it's got enough juice, was operating within tolerances before my m/b blew up last week and runs silently so I don't see why I should replace it.

Well I think I'm going to chuck a Corsair 620w in there too, not because I don't trust my Hiper but because it's only got 1 PCI-E cable and I can't stand using the 2-1 adapters to make a second because it makes a real mess of the cable management :D

Anyone fancy buying the worlds only working Hiper Type R? ;)

depending on how it blows but mine took my motherboard with it.

:D as above iw ould go for a corsair 520w or 620w :)

its like buying a bentley and then trying to feed it on poorly filtered chip fat, you just shouldn't do it :P

Well the 620w is Crossfire Certified, the 520w isn't. I know it will most probably run on the 520 (heck, it can run on the Type R which is only 60w more!) but for warranty purposes I'm not willing to take the risk for the sake of a few £!
