Ok, after much research and swaying back and forth I think I have got the build that I want to order (tonight :D)

The point of the build is to play BF3 on highest settings so I can enjoy it fully.

This is what I have :

Any opinions/recommendations before I throw more ££ into gaming? :D

Get a retail bluray drive and change the cooler to something like a Gelid tranquillo or Corsair A50.

I take it I would see improvements in temps/db with the tranquillo/A50?

I presume the only difference with retail is that it comes with some kind of softare?

The retail usually comes with software, I got the Samsung drive which come with software otherwise you would need to purchase separately.

I'd personally change the case, it's a bit... rugged for my tastes. But cooling wise it's a monster so its worth it I suppose :P

hmm I only put in 16gb as it is so cheap compared to last time I had to buy ram :O

I presume the 570 is better than the 6950 then?

I will go look at the coolers :)

Good system indeed

From a novice (just built a new system POV) if I wanted to play BF3 etc (like myself) then I would alter the priorities and spend the money by, buying a cheaper mobo, cooler, drop the SSD for now, half the ram, and spend the saved cash on an uuber GPU setup, we are talking SLI 6950 if you do that...)

This motherboard is compatible with the next gen graphics cards, so my 6950/570 will only have to last me until half way through next year as I believe the new cards are going to destroy most cards out just now? I don't wanna skimp on the cooler or SSD though cause I want mega performance with the best cooling :D

Well the best cooling is either the Silver Arrow or Noctua DH-14

Has anyone had both a 670 and a 6950 so I can get a good comparison?

I have always used AMD cards before so I don't know what the nvidia ones are like!

I have a GTX570 here, its ok.

But they cost about £40 more.

Would you say its worth the extra £40? I just need something to let me max games till next year where I will add either another card in sli/crossfire or get one of the newer cards depending on price/performance
