Just had a NIP for an alleged incident in february. Obviously this is way longer than 14 days after the fact so what do I do next? Do I need to send a letter of some kind saying bugger off? Is there a form letter I can use?

Are you the registered owner of the vehicle in question? If it was someone elses car (hire car, courtesy car etc) then they have longer than the 14 days to allow time for tracing the driver.

The car in question is in my name, the offense is exceeding the 50mph limit by the M4 toll bridge before the toll booths (From my dim memory I think it was a camera van parked on the bridge).

Bah that camera van that sits on the bridge by the M4 Toll Bridge is a right blighter! It sits fairly close to where the limit changes from NSL to a 50 zone too. It's actually visible from the 50 sign but i suppose it doesn't aim to catch people untilt they're a little further down the road.

Slightly confused now. About 3 weeks ago i thought i got caught speeding nothing came through but on that site it says something about a Fixed penatly notice. Whats the differnce between a FPN and a NIP? With FPN you have to wait 6 months for the time to be up does that mean i can still be done?

Im amazed that people get caught by this, you can see it from a long way away.
In general its only over there when there is an event on in cardiff. Pure money making position.

Damn! Last time i was there it was the Worthington cup final day.

Ages ago, I got caught doing allegedly 96mph by that very van. Until I pointed out that there was no way my car at the time could possibly have slowed down for the tolls.

I sent a letter rather than fill in the nip and it timed out.

Nip comes first, then an offer of a FPN
