How much improvement, if any, is noticeable with lower latency memory?

I ask because I currently have 8GBs of 1600mhz CL11 and I'm wondering whether it's worth upgrading at all to something like 16GBs of 1600mhz C8 or 16GBs of 1866mhz C9.

Cheers.

theres not much in it tbh other than benchmarking

you might manage to lower the cas 11 to around cas 10 or cas 9 with some tweaking and extra imc voltage

TBH mate I'm a complete novice at overclocking/twaeking, the most I've done is just change the multi and volts on my 2500k, I don't understand all the little intricacies of it all, too many random acronyms!

The only reason I ask is that judging from a few bits I've read, latency has more impact on performance than frequency, anything over 1600mhz doesn't seem to make any appreciable difference.

What board you have? You can test by changing the command rate/cas to 10 and add one or two clicks more memory controller voltage

Try changing your CAS latency in the bios from 2 to 1, this is a quick way to speed up your system.

Your can buy some low latency 1866 or 2133 ram that will make your system feel quicker, but I would advise reading some more ram reviews 1st, I have the same board as you and love benchmarking to get the last few points but in games there is a small difference unless you are running something like an AMD APU that thives on higher memory speeds.
