Playing some bf4 earlier, noticed temps seemed much lower than normal. 55c and 49c, ive seen theese cards as high as 84c and 65c. They were downclocking a lot to 700mhz. Normal stock boost clocks are 1124 and 1097. So i downloaded the latest version of afterburner, thinking it may have been faulty readings but it showed the same. Cards are using the same 1-1 ratio custom fan setting as i kept AB settings prior to updating.

After exiting the game, i decided to give heaven valley a run, 71 and 58 max. Normally for benches like this i have to set manual 100% fan use to keep them at 70 and 55c. During the test card usage was dropping as low as 40% but boost clocks stayed constant. Could this be some sort of throttling issue, cpu is a stock 4790k if that makes any difference.

Dont currently have GPU-Z installed, just AB. But ran 3dmfs just now. Score of 14911 which i think looks about right. Max temp of 71c on the top card, 55c on the bottom one. Possible that the previous version of AB wasnt applying fan speeds correctly before? Only upgraded to the latest 4.1.0 version tonight.

In game the gpu use was all over the shop tbh, i suspect maybe a slight bottleneck from the cpu being at stock would cause lower use too. But fs and valley showed constant boost clock speeds. Temps are about as low as ive seen on this pair without running a 60fps limit in game.

Restart and fired up bf3, boost clocks constant at 1124/1097. Card use up and down a bit but iirc thats normal. Max temps of 63 and 54. Normally after 3-4 minutes into a game the top card is at 74c ono. Game running nice and smooth, temp drop is pretty nice all the same.

Very true, i can only guess that it was something to do with the old version of AB and the fan profile not playing ball with the drivers. Might just bung the cpu oc back on again. Kill off any sign of bottleneck gremlins.:D
