Hi guys, how are people getting on with overclocking the latest 3700+? I’m sure loads of people bought them when they were on special a week or so ago.
I persuaded my mate to buy an ultra-d and the cheapest San Diego. At 55 bux it seemed silly not to get him to upgrade now. The stepping is a kab1e 0606 and a new one on me, so i will be interested to see how it scales :)

Mine is about 1 month old and from memory its either the same stepping or 0626 but it does 3GHz on 1.55v and very low temps of 28/48 idle/load.

Going by the temps could probably do quite a bit more and I wouldn't hesitate (I'm sure they all do about the same now) to by one from OcUK but I've just bought an Allendale.

I'm just trying to work out whether to sell it on the bay or whether I'll get more if I keep it for a couple of months?

The last batch of sd 3700s stepping KAB1E look to be very good, they have the same stepping as the final batch of Opterons. Have got one hopefully arriving on Friday. For £51inc vat is seriously cheap.

AM2 Opteron 1210 single core server cpus are now available ;) but the price is a little excessive, about £160inc vat for a retail boxed  . Great for a server but an Allendale 6300 and DS3 combo will **** all over it and comeback for more!

Socket 939 opterons were loved by many, but the AM2 version are not wanted by the enthusiast community at all.

opteron 1210 is a dual core not single

Do you know if there's going to be a san diego for AM2 or are they just releasing the single core venice's and the x2's?

only have the am2 orleans core which has 512 L2 cache like the old venice and winchester before that

Just got my cpu from the Courier's office as they missed me yesterday.

Cpu is an OEM San Diego 3700
KAB1E 0630 CPMW

Probably one of the final weeks for these cpus, will get it setup shortly and post some screenies etc.

Quite nice at low volts and with a crappy £5 heatsink!!
Bargain at £51inc vat.

I have a 3700+ at 3GHz and although its very nice I wouldn't swap this duo for anything

Not money, a new car, fame or anything.

<did someone say new wife?>

I have both Core2duo and this setup. I love them both.

At 3.1ghz I am 1 hours prime95 stable (got bored :D ) and then I played a bit of Midnight run II and all was rock solid.

These San Diegos are pretty sweet for the money, and I think this one will go higher, have booted it past 3.2ghz :)

you'll drop that duo quicker than a hot potato when intel release there quad cores ;)

I am looking to set up a new second rig , I can not make up my mind should I go for AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego (lI ooking at £51) or should I go for AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego (£71) or go AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice Core for (£40)

What are people buying for Second hand price on these CPU?

Thanks

Simon
