Latest FTTC Exchanges

Mines on none of those - and its not like we are a small or out the way exchange either :( largest town in this district with over 20,000 residential connections.

Rroff, I feel your pain m8ty. The problem is that BT are rolling out FTTC on the exchanges that are easy to do in the terms of man power. EG How much or how difficult is it to upgrade the exchange, install the new CABS, the Fiberoptic cables AND the connection jumpers from DSLAM CAB to POTS box.

ALL the new CABS should be within 100m of the local POTS box it intends to feed with a suitable power source close by.

my exchange is online dec 11. but they aren't taking it to my street. Neither are virgin. yay for staying on 6mb broadband ffs.

Think the problem is the CABs, bit of a rural area even tho its a decent sized town so things are a bit "all over" with some "legacy" planning issues going back to the 1930s.

Not too bothered tho I get 10MBit down and 1MBit up pretty consistantly on ADSL2 which isn't by any means slow - would hopefully stop those odd days when the SNR drops out and everything goes to crap for a few days til the profile sorts itself out again.

With a glimmer of hope I might now actually be able to get Infinity in time for xmas! When i searched originally a few months back they were going to do my exchange but not my area. Virgin are also at my exchange but have not done my area.

I just did the search again by phone number and it says december, so i did it by postcode just to check that too and it also said december.

Says 28mb too which will be a nice boost and maybe with a more stable connection i can play online again!

Annoying to see it's gone from December this year to a who knows when 2012, does the P mean everywhere will get fibre to the premises or is that only in certain areas of a town?

If your exchange is marked with FTTP then all connections will be Fiber to the Premises. If it's FTTC/P then it will be a mixture some places will be FTTP and some will have FTTC.;););)

Ah i thought so, looks like it will be down to luck then, have you heard of many homes getting fibre since BT started these doing this or is it mostly for businesses?
