Far Cry 4
£49.99 for pre order.
£64.99 for gold.

Assassin’s Creed Unity
£49.99

Not liking the pricing of games lately.

Anyone know the cheapest place to pre-order FC4?

Why would you pre-order?
Paying the extra premium for something you can get a lot cheaper after the first week as keys and game codes will be around.

Price increase is also going to happen, haps graphics get better, it gets exponentially more expensive to create those graphics. As well as inflation.
As said pre orders are a rip off these days on top of that, a couple of weeks after release will be cheaper. Or if the game offers it, get it in beta which is often cheaper.

The pricing is pretty crazy, agreed. Seeing the rise above inflation in videogame pricing has been very noticeable.

However, with pre-orders... There's something I don't quite get. Not only can you get it a lot cheaper after it's been released, you can also see what people are saying about the game and that it's not just derped and broken, like so many recent releases have been. And then you can make the decision to save your hard-earned until it is fixed (at which point it will also certainly cost less!).

I'd be interested to see some official figures on what level of uptake pre-orders get these days. With more and more publicity around "day one" issues with games, I would have thought that less people would take the risk of buying a lemon.

I got stung with Batman Arkham City - bought it up front, and paid a pretty penny. It was that riddled with bugs that it was about 9 months before I could run it on my machine in a playable fashion, by which time I could pick it up for under a tenner!

Although I dislike having to pay the premium for new games the above poster is correct in saying game development is more expensive than ever

The gaming industry has avoided raising prices up until recently.

Unfortunately a few games have been released in a terrible state, e.g Total War Rome II on release. This is just bad business.

But the gaming industry has changed for better or worse.

I noticed it too and shook my head in sadness. Whilst I don't go for all this pre-order bonus BS, it did get to me either way.

Or wait a month, usually codes for next to nothing in the members market. Think I paid £11 for Watchdogs shortly after it came out.

Not a great game, but it was still in the shops at £25 at the time. Pre-order is an utter rip off especially anything that involved Ubisoft.

Origin pricing is great for a damn good laugh.

They seem to think that £60 is fully acceptable for a PC game. I honestly can't understand the train of thought that moves between the brain stations at EA HQ.

£15 cheaper from the rainforest. (Far Cry 4)

So I have no idea what you're whining about, Steam is usually RRP until sale time.

It feels like the increase in pricing to the £50-60 mark is so when the first sale comes around they can go 50% off and get what would be normal retail price of £25-30.
