Hi guys,

I'm thinking about getting a 32gb iPod touch as my nano is broken, I do use the nike+ thing and I have an AMP wristband that I can use as a wireless remote too which are plus points but...

I read that a 64gb touch with GPS might come out before the end of the year, I'd rather not buy a touch right now if a better alternative is coming soon but I can't seem to find anything definite on this.

How does it measure up to other players, I understand the Arthos players are better for video playback, but I prefer the design and size/feel of the touch.

Any thoughts/advice and information about when the new touch will be surpassed would be great. Also I would like to know if I can still use downloaded maps to navigate to compensate for a lack of gps.

Cheers!

have had one since June/July as a replacement for my old 3rd Gen 20gb ipod.

Its a decent bit of kit and for what its worth i think the video quality is great on it, i use a program called Videora to convert files to MP4 and on that size of a screen its dead on for viewing.

Im no audio phile tho so im not really well placed to comment on the sound quality, its loud enough for my tastes (metal) has enough bass/treble and thats good enough for me.

Once you get over the gimmick of the UI its basically just an expensive ipod, i doubt ive used the coverflow more than to show it off, for daily use its great. It really misses an inline remote or ability to skip tracks without having to unlock it first (taking it out of pocket)

Mine at the moment is pretty much filled with 3300 odd songs and 4 movies, all songs at 192k mp3, movies on the high qualitys etting on videora.

There have been a few firmware updates since i got it, never had any issues with it, mine has never been jailbroken, i recently got the apps firmware to install some games and new apps but again ts more gimmicky.

Wifi on it works great as does the youtube app, i dont really use it for browsing but the touch screen lends itself well to browsing documents etc.

Id say go for it if you like having the new technology but part of me is sorry i didnt go for a larger capacity ipod classic as i dont use half the features on the touch enough.

HTH :)
