Latest gen watch, battery not lasting long

I bought my wife one of the new apple watches recently, and she loves it. But the battery doesn't hold its charge for very long. It needs charging twice a day she says. This doesn't sound right to me. For comparison, how long should a full charge last?

Should be about 36 hours, my older Series 5 lasts about a day and a half.

How long a full charge will last is very dependant on how usage, does she have every app on her phone installed on the watch or has she only installed the ones she wants? I've only installed stuff that I need.

I charge my watch to 100% while in the shower each morning and when I go to bed (and put it into sleep mode), it can be anywhere between 40% and 60%. It doesn't drop much overnight.

Apple quote 18 hours after an overnight charge, factoring in things like checking the time, receiving notifications, using apps and doing a 60-minute workout. 36 hours sounds excessive, having to charge twice a day sounds too low.

How many charge cycles does it have? The watch itself doesn't show it but you can get the info from the iPhone it's paired to by following the instructions here.

Yea that seems unusual to me. I had a series 3 that could do just squeeze 2 days (though I'd be on <10% by the end of work on day 2, my series 5 cant maange that but will normally finish a day in the 40-50% region. I'm certainly only charging mine once a day.

My S4 will last around a day and a half with normal use.

As @Feek says, I only install the apps I use and I turn most notifications off except for calls/messages/emails.

I don’t need Facebook or BBC News pinging me every two minutes.
