Latest Nvidia drivers - 190.62 temperature!

Hi all
I recently installed the latest drivers as above but am having problems with gpu temperatures. Running riva tuner (auto control) the cards idle at 35% fan speed @ 60C and under load run up to 78C, 68% fan speed. With the old drivers, as soon as the load reduced the temps would go down, and so would the fan speeds (reducing the noise!), but with the latest, the fan speeds increase with temp, but then stay at the highest level even under no load until a reboot where they return to the 35% level. I tried removing riva tuner and letting the Nvidia drivers control the temps, but this was worse, the fans stayed at 35% while the temperature just kept on rising. Reinstalled new drivers - same problem. I've just gone back to previous driver version and all is back to working normally. Any ideas please? Cards are 9600GT in sli.

I think its a 190.xx series issue.

According to EVGA precision my gpu's are currently at 9,399,248*C (yess 9.4million degrees celcius):confused: which worked fine before updating. gpuz and riva tuner offer similarly stupid results.

Just ignore it, the cards will shutdown if the get too hot, and there appears to be a sizable performance boost betwwen the early 18x.xx and 190.xx

I can't believe this. How can these drivers be certified and released when such an obvious and basic bug still hasn't been fixed.

Looks like I will be forever running the 186.xx series drivers at this rate on my 9800GTX+. Do they ever read their bug reports? I've sent a few as have many others surely. Posted all over nVidia's forums too. It must be a simple thing to fix, in comparision to game fixes.

I installed these drivers last night because I hoped they'd fix the dual wallpaper problem I was having with the previous drivers...

The install crashed my PC and now my display settings are messed up - I can't even set my monitor (use tv as primary and monitor as secondary) to its native rez. And of course I run it in portrait and that setting keeps turning off...

Really not impressed. What version would people suggest I go back to if I want decent dual monitor support?

I don't think the temperature/fan issue will affect me on these though since I use a custom cooler

190 drivers are just a mess at the moment, probably tacking on all sorts of Windows 7 fixes and breaking other things in the process. beta at best.

186.xx seem to be the ones to stick with for now.

I'm on 190.62 and no problems here. Had to update to the latest RivaTuner to get them recognised though. Also, i use manual profiles and change when jumping in and out of games. All temps etc. report fine!
