Latest update borked Safari?

Hi everyone.

I updated to El Capitain 10.11.3 this morning and since then Safari isn't working properly.

I can't search in the address bar and if I've already visited a site, I can't then type in the address bar to go somewhere else. Tabs have also stopped working so the only way I can navigate is to open a new window each time.

I've tried restarts, I've reset preferences - it's very annoying.

Anyone had this before? Any ideas?

Just out of interest, without suggesting you were looking at porn, were there any suspect websites you looked at? It happened to me on my iPad and iPhone literally overnight but I had only looked at a few very boring mainstream ones, nothing of a more "interesting" nature ��

I find it a little disconcerting that I hadn't done anything dodgy!

Definitely nothing dodgy, is there a list of supposed sites that triggered it?

The thing is, it was only on my MBP after I updated, my iPhone and iPad worked fine.
That's why I didn't post in the other thread, I thought that was a separate iOS related issue.

I think Safari is a little bit quicker without the suggestions so I'm tempted to leave it off.
