Speaking blind, dad just rang me saying his internet connection had died ( error 691 ) and no toolbars appearing.

As a temporary solution i guided him through a system resore ( to before the update ) to get him back online.

This worked on restart , then froze.

Now its just BSOD on reboot.

Any idea what was in the last batch of updates that might of caused this. ?

Thanks,

Mark

A Windows Update wouldnt have caused this i can assure you. Try a repair of the OS through the CD based setup program.
That's not exactly true, there's a couple of occasions in the past where Windows Updates have damaged systems. A quick browse through theregister.com will bring up a couple of related articles.

Anyway, back to the problem at hand - you could try the system recovery console from the setup CD's. Might be worth a shot anyway.

Going over tomorrow to try and sort it.

Its a Dell ,so probably just a ghost to work with.

Cheers for all the suggestions, keep them coming, BSOD are a PITA :D
