does anyone know how to change the page numbers to 'x of y'. been searching everywhere and the solution i found only works partially.

Been a LONG time since I used LaTeX but there seems to be suggestions that using the fancyhdr package in conjunction with the nofm package can result in problems, and the best combination is to use fancyhdr with the lastpage package instead. Don't know if thats of any use to you or not
