A couple years ago I bought a Barebones laptop (MiTaC 8227D) which features a socket P motherboard and an 8600m gs amongst other things.

I have a problem where the battery LED indicator continuously blinks when the battery and mains lead are both plugged in.

The battery itself doesn't work correctly and the system doesn't even recognise its there. However the indicator will only blink if the battery is inserted and it gets very hot.

I couldn't find the error codes for mitac laptops anywhere and I have taken apart the battery to see if there were any simple problems I could have fixed (sadly I couldn't see anything out of the norm).

Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I don't want to spend around £100 on a new battery only to find that something else is causing my misery.

My laptop battery light flashes when its low on power so maybe because your computer doesn't fully recognise it it might think its low on power too. Is it possible to update any software or drivers for the battery?

As far as I know no, mitac isn't renowned for customer service. It took me a while just to find their laptop support site. Everything there seems 2 years old.
