Hi guys,

Is there anything I need to be aware of when launching games with a Core 2 Duo.

I've just moved from a AMD 3500 to an Intel E6400 on an Asus P5B and BFG 8800 GTX system that I built this weekend. I was wondering if I need to change the way I launch games to use the two cores?

Sorry if this is a silly question.

Cheers, Russell

What are the options... give us the different ways of launching games you are considering and we'll tell you which is best.

:D

To be fair, the only issue you'll have is some games don't like 2 cores so you'll need to shut one down for the game. Either by opening task manager after you start the game, right click the process, set affinity. then deselect one core. Or get an app like Xp Win Launcher http://www.majorgeeks.com/WinLauncherXP_d870.html

But on the whole nothing is different.

Okay, thanks guys.

I just remember seeing something on another forum about launching a game in the following way:

"C:\Program Files\rFactor\rFactor.exe" +fullproc

So if I don't need to do anything, that's good news.

Some programs have an optional param to enable dual core mode. However, that is usually if the dual core mode is somewhat 'experimental'.
