How much do people round here pay for an oil service on a BMW? Also, has anyone had the gearbox oil done? How much was that?

About £150 at the dealer, less if you faff about with supplying your own oil, more if its a 1 year old M5.

I can't remember how much I pay on the 3 series, but at my last one in my old car, I had an oil service, and gearbox and diff oil changed also.

Not had one on the 330 yet, and not due for 14,000 more miles

What does £150 get you, apart from an oil and filter change?

It gets you an oil service, which is not simply an oil and filter change, a number of other things are checked as well and you get replacement microfilters.

I know maybe its not relevant on my 530d but you dont get microfilters on my car for a standard oil change just the oil and filter and it was £174. Microfilters were an extra £60 plus fitting.

Thats because you have an E60 which does not follow the Oil Service, Inspection 1, Oil Service, Inspection 2 servicing routine of the older cars.

Sorry, should have made myself a bit clearer. Its for an E60 530i CBS rather than inspection 1 and 2. Saying that, last time I had it done (oil) they did charge me extra for the microfilters....
