Finally got all the bits together to start building my new system but I've come across something strange.

Board is a DFI NF4 SLI-D with two identical Hitachi T7K250 SATA drives attached to the SATA1 & 2 headers. The drives both work fine and device manager reports both interfaces working identally with similar speed tests, however...

On the POST screen (well the second POST screen you see briefly before the OS boots) it reports the first drive as "LBA,ATA133,250GB", but the second as "CHS,ATA133,250GB".

Err, what gives? Why are they different?

I think you can change the setting for each drive in the bios.
If you got to dfi street forum site, about setting up your mobo, if I recal angry games says to set them to LBA, (Large Block Address)

Hdd not detecting / slow boot?
Please make sure that your hdd's are running at Auto or LBA in the BIOS. This can cure a LOT of slow booting or non-detecting hdd problems:

Let me know how you get on
