Hi guys,

Ive just noticed today (just started happening?) im getting "screen burn" in my Samsung HDTV/Monitor but its only just started happening. I can see feint outlines of icons on my desktop and I've just been playing bf2, and the map in the top right now im out of the game is still there when you look closely and a dark colour is on the screen.

You cannot see it all the time, only when certain colours are on the screen.

I did a google search and people said to put a white pic on full screen to fix it, but it doesnt seem to work. But its never done this in the past and it seems to be "burning" after very short time span.

Does anyone know if it means the screens on its way out or is there a solution to fix it?

Cheers in advance.

It was 100 contrast and 50 brightness but they were the default values.

I have turned it down to 85 contrast and 45 brightness now.

Do you also have Dynamic contrast enabled? Although LCD screenburn is different to CRT, it can still occur. Spend some time with calibration DVD. Set samsung to "standard"

Dynamic was set on. So I should turn it to standard? It seems to get a lot brighter when I set it to standard.

Cheers for the advice btw

It depends on the set, I think even when set to standard there is some weird auto dynamic contrast going on. Try "custom" as well.

Nothing to do with burn in, but connect a PC and display native res, and open up google news page. Disable cleartype. Adjust sharpness until the text has no ringing. When this is done it's a pure signal. For your DVD video source do the same, remember most TV's always have excessive sharpness. On the two LCD TV's I've had, displaying Avia sharpness screen showed just where sharpness should be set. In this case minimum setting.

You'll also need to play around with brightness (black level)
I have a Samsung, it looked horrible on dynamic. Also reduced colour.

A test DVD makes a worthwhile purchase. Also comes with R/G/B filters so you can adjust tint accordingly. Normally you can adjust colour (saturation) by eye, but you need the filters to adjust tint.

Cheers for the advice.

The problem has been fixed luckily by leaving the TV on for about 3 hours on a non tuned channel - you know the one where you get black and white fuzz moving around quickly.

But I'll get a config dvd too and set it up properly.
