My converter has died due to a power outage at the house, it came with the Belinea screen 6 years ago and I do not know the specs. You'd have a normal PSU lead and it would go into this converter and at the other end was a DC plug which went into the LCD.

I've found an old DC plug I used for recharging batteries and it seems to work fine powering the screen, I'm just worried it may be a 'weaker' DC plug or the opposite and due long term damage to my screen.

On the Converter it says:

Input: 100-240v 50/60HZ 1.7A
Output: 12v 4.16A

On the plug I'm using now that directly plugs into the mains:

Input: 100-240v 50HZ 85W
Output: 16v = 4A

I don't know what any of that means or if the plug will overheat and die. Can anyone help me out?

I'm no expert but your monitor seems to require a 12V supply judging by the specfication of the original power brick.

The one you're now using provides a 16V supply.

It doesn't sound like a healthy solution.

Did you check it wan't just the fuse that had blown?

I check the PSU type cable and it is fine, it's 100% this brick but there's a warning sticker on it saying do not open limited power source risk of shock, so I got scared. The new 12v is only a couple of quid anyway.

This new plug is getting kinda warm.
