LCD Has Gone A Funny Colour

I friend of mine rang me this morning about their Dell laptop experiencing problems with the screens colour. When they switch the laptop on, the screen is a greeny colour and when it boots into windows, the screen goes all redy colour.

He said it started to do it a few weeks ago with it coming and going but for the past three days, the green & red colour stays on all the time.

Is this now a fault with the LCD or is it a fault with this invertor I often hear mentioned.

Any help would be great.

if it was the inverter the screen would be black or very dim.

this sounds more like an issue with the screen connection. might be a good idea to ask dell themselves?

Sounds like the flexible connector strip between gfx output and screen, try tilting the screen back and forth and see whether it has any effect.
