LCD HD question

Hi,
I bought this LCD tv today.

The manual say's it is HD ready and it has a DVI input. A friend told me that this telly is not "HD" because it only supports 1024 x 768 resolution so it doesn't really qualify as a "HD-ready" Tv.

1,280 x 720 pixels or 1920 x 1080 and a digital connection = HD ready (I think anyway)

Remember HD ready and HD compatible are not the same thing.

does it say hd ready or compatible?

At 15" I don't think you would ever be able to tell anyway!

HD ready requires 720 horizontal lines, which 1024x768 would qualify, were the aspect ratio 16:9 (rectangular pixels)...however it is 4:3 so with a widescreen feed (which all HD content is) then it wouldn't have those 720 horizontal lines anymore (and the picture will be goddamned tiny).

I'd take issue with that HD claim.
