Hi guys,

out of interest... whats the main differences in the technology between say a 26" LCD monitor and a 26" LCD TV? specifically with regards to running my macbook through the TV and potentially my PS3 through a 26" monitor?

is there really any difference these days or is it all just marketing?

TV's typically have a better scaler as more likely to have to scale then a PC Monitor.

I run my Dell 2405 at 1920 x 1200 and my Smasung 26" at normal TV res. When I had my xBox360 on the Samsung it looked great at the 1368 x768 however there was no way I would be sitting as close as I do on my Dell Monitor.

Personally I find a monitor better when in close and a TV better for distance using, from the couch.

LCD TV will be 16:9 (1366x768,1920x1080)
Monitors will be 16:10 (1440x900, 1680x1050, 1920x1200)

I am using a 23" samsung HDTV LCD
It is a bit in your face in terms of brightness, but that problem is easily solved by putting it on energy saving mode which dims the screen.
disadvantage is the low resolution. :(

I plan to get a proper 24" samsung LCD monitor in future... and use my current 23" sammy as a second screen (multipl screen set-up)
