Hi all,

Strange one this. Just noticed that in the top left corner of my screen I have a filepath that seems to be faintly but permanently displayed in the top left of my display. See below (apologies for the picture quality used my camera phone):

Normal application use:

After closing the application:

I haven't been using the application long (It's a LaTeX editor which I am using to write my dissertation).

I've just moved back home (from Uni) for a few weeks for Easter and due to a lack of room (small desk), just next to that corner of the screen is a lamp that has been used while I've been working. Could this be the cause of this? Is this screenburn issue grounds for a monitor RMA?

For info: Monitor is an NEC MultiSync 20WGX2 (Just over a year old - purchased Dec 2006)

Thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,

aaazza

A lot of the monitors at my college seem to have burnt in images/text0 on them. It looks similar to what you've got there.

Mine use to do that with the lines on IE (under the title and address bars) but doesn't do it anymore. It isn't perma.

interesting if some people would open a fullscreen message with your name, leave it, and it would be like a watermark? :D that would be crazy..

Thats nothing, i have that effect right down the right side of my dell 20.1"ws.
I ignored it for ages thinking it might just be some sort of interference so i doubt my warranty would cover it now.
Its as if they laid a wet news paper on the inside of the screen, not noticible on dark screens but annoying on bright screens.

If the screen is still within the warranty period you should be able to get it replaced. It shouldn't matter how long the problem has been there, and it's not like Dell will know.
