Hi im thinking of buying a 40" lcd tv, Sony Bravia KDL-40V2000. My question is if im running my pc through it, do big screen lcd tv's give the same quality picture as standard tft (which i have atm) monitors? I know it will vary deppending the quality of the tv but overall is the picture on par with monitors If im using the correct leads and the tv is HD ready?

A 40" 1366x768 screen will look lousy in Windows, a 32" of the same resolution is just about ok, but for text/photo editting it's still too low. For gaming though it's great.

If you do want to use a LCD TV as a PC monitor, definietly consider a 1080p screen, especially for 40" size.

At least 1920x1080 is selectable in drivers, so you don't need to mess around with custom rez/powerstrip :)

I had a 32" 1366x768 LCD TV for a while. Don't forget ratios are different to PC monitors, so not all games will support that 16:9 resolution.

It says on the website
As you'd expect, the 40V2000 also hits the specification targets required by the industry's HD Ready standard, adding to its HDMI and component connections an HD-friendly native resolution of 1,366x768 pixels and compatibility with the 1080i and 720p formats. It can't take the more advanced 1080p resolution -- but then neither can the vast majority of its rivals right now.
Is this ok? i want mainly for playing games, as long as the txt is visible and not fuzzy and blurred like on a normal crt tv then i guess it should be fine, my pc setup is pretty good too
