For my next new build i want some sort of HTPC. I'll be using the screen for absolutely everything (music, gaming (possibly xbox360 in the future), movies, freeview etc).

I'm in a dilemma whether to save for a 26" LCD or just make do with a 24" Widescreen TFT. Am i right in saying that using a LCD for general desktop and internet use wouldn't look as good as it would on the TFT due to the lower resolution?

Also, i presume that PC gaming would be better on the TFT but xbox360 and films would be better suited towards the LCD.

What would you recommend (LCD or TFT) as i'm completely out of touch with TFT's/LCD's nowadays.

what do you mean save up the extra? I payed £499 for my samsung 26 inch HD LCD and the 24inch TFTs cost at least £600.

Obviously the TFT would be better for browsing due to the higher resolution but the LCD tv actually looks very good with games and doesnt require anywhere near as powerful graphics to run at native res. Also fairly nice to use for generally browsing etc. especially from a distance.

Yeah sorry. I'd initially put down 20" TFT and then changed it to 24". It does seem a bit crazy spending more money on a 24" inch screen over a 26" screen.

I'd be mainly using it for movies, freeview and maybe xbox360 in the future so PC gaming would be the thing i'd use it least for.

I'm just really worried that the text will look too big on the desktop or whilst on the internet.
