technically the vga input will not give such a good pic as a div input, correct?

has anyone tried both and really seen a difference,my tv has rgb and hdmi but no dvi input and am wondering if its really worth the diference to buy a tv with dvi?

thanks

there is a converter from dvi to hdmi which will be a bonus when youi upgrade your dvd player or games console, and depending on what variety of dvi socket you have, you might also be covered for playing MS 's Vista 's HiDef content too, so yes several reasons for having dvi

It depends on your TV mate...

For instance the Samsung LCD's only support 1:1 pixel mapping over the VGA input. Therefore the PC picture via VGA will be superior to the picture via HDMI with a DVI converter.

However if your TV supports 1:1 pixel mapping over the digital inputs (like the LG's) then the picture quality technically should be better over DVI or HDMI.

In a nutshell, go with whatever port your TV supports 1:1 pixel mapping over.

And there can one problem with some TV's with having the PC plugged into the HDMI socket by a DVI to HDMI cable.

E.G (pioneer plasma as example)
Get a PC graphics card with DVI output and an inexpensive DVI-to-HDMI cable via the receiver box rear HDMI input.

Please note: The HDMI connection on the 4th and later generation screens can be used with a DVI to HDMI converter but the DVI signal must include HDCP (Hi Definition Copy Protection) signals.
Without HDCP the HDMI link will shut down, you can only use a DVI to HDMI converter with PCs that have DVI outputs and feature HDCP.
