Hey guys,

I need to get a new TV for my room and I’m looking for a nice LCD one, preferably with Freeview :)

My spec is;

• Up to 23” – although there are some 26” models I’ve seen that I think I could get away with. Basically I’m limited to about a 73cm with…
• Wall mountable
• PC Input – I know most do now anyway.
• 2x Scart.
• And hopefully Freeview ;)

Not too worried about HD at this point.

Has anyone got any suggestions or experience of any models that fall into my spec?

Thanks in advance!

SW.

Bit of a Hi-jack, didnt want to start a new thread,

Im also looking for a 23" lcd, or a 26" however I want as small a bezel as possible, the samsung which is 26" i saw is too big because of it.

I found a REALLY nice panasonic viera 23 and 26 inch (curiously they are the same price!) but they have no PC input.

any recommendations? At the moment i see the toshiba 23wlt56 which is cheap and nice (but no HDCP or HDMI)

hopefully the answer can help the OP too. Is the panasonic worth the price?

or is there better?

Is this more of a space restriction? or asthetics? :)

I assume this is the D60 Panasonic? You can get the D500 for a similar cost, but that's got quite a large bezel :( Though it's last years top model and is much better than the D60.

Quite interested in the D500, as it was last years top model :D

A quick google though, only returns the D500 Samsung

Where am I going wrong?

Cheers,

yeah its mainly space, with a bezel the size of the samsungs with speakers on the side i can fit 23 inch but with the panasonic i can have 26. its also an aesthetic thing too i suppose. I REALLY like the look of the old sony 26" and is the perfect size...but i was told its not good for some reason O_o

Theres a REALLY nice 23" LG one which has EVERYTHING (HDMI/VGA/+all that other jibber jabber) looks really nice and is black...still looks a bit chunky tho

Can anyone vouch for the Sharp LC26P70E 26" :)

It meets my spec, and is HD compatible.

It'll cost the best part of £600 in most places I've seen it?

My mate works in Curry's part-time and he say's that at the moment they are being inundated with Samsung returns :(

I've also read a couple of reviews that have said they can only last up to a couple of weeks...

Oh yeah; am I right to assume that most major brand LCD's will be wall mountable?

That'll be mines intended use ;)

Cheers,

SW.

Are the P70 range of Sharp displays the 'PAL optimised' ones, ie. the resolution is 960 x 540 so it will downscale any HD resolution signal it receives?

Ok, just had a look at the specs on some sites and the user guide from Sharp, it is indeed 960 x 540 resolution. So, if you want a display with at least a 720p (1280 x 720) resolution then this set won't be for you. Being 'PAL optimised' however, standard TV and freeview will look better than on a higher resolution LCD display :)

As for wall mounting, most displays have a VESA standard mounting point, specifications might state if the display is VESA compatible and maybe the space between the screw holes/mounting points eg 100mm x 100mm or 200mm x 100mm etc. hth :)
