The wife has decided she wants one of these for Christmas
Checked the prices to be about £1000.

I have very little knowledge on these and would like some advice/opinions please. Are there any models to go for or avoid.

It will be going into the bedroom.

Thanks

If they're a grand, why not hook up a cheap PC combine it with a Samsung 181T (18.1") ? Put a TV card and DVD drive in there and you've got a much better system. :)

I see your point but i cant see her going for it as it will sit on the table next to her mirror/make-up etc...

Your can get a laptop for 1k... perhaps explain to her that you could also get a projector for that money - i.e. 8ft screens etc. ;)

Pioneer make a Nice on of these that also has a DVD player built in (incl 5.1 Decoder!)... Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, Dunno the price though!... :D

My Tele cost me a Grand!... But it is a 32" Flat CRT Monsta'!... :D

I'd go wiv a 'Lifestyle P.C' and a TV Tuner (PCI or USB), probly only cost 750squid!... :D

Why do people keep suggesting computers? The guy wants a TV for his wife. Whilst we may all enjoy fiddling with computers to watch DVD's and TV she probably won't.

She'll want to be able to switch it on and pick a channel. She won't want BSOD's, crashes, programes not working properly and all the other porblems associated with computers.

My wife touching a computer makes me come out in a cold sweat. i'll stick with a TV. She can just about manage that.

I'm after one of these now, saw a small place with several setup well and was 'wowed.' Cost isn't an issue so I'll look around for an especially flash one. :)
