A lot you guys on here have got LCD TVs now, are they are now compareable in picture quality to a good CRT TV? Thinking of whether to get a LCD TV, don't want to spend more than £1000 for a 28" or 32" one. Or should i just get a 28"/32" CRT TV and save the extra money for a holiday??
Thanks in advance guys :)

It would depend on what you want out of the TV really, but the market is pushing heavily on LCD TVs now, especially HD, which you do not get very many CRT TVs that will give you HD resolutions. My experience with LCDs is you can get some fantastic pictures from them, on par with decent CRTs, and when in HD mode, totally blowing them away, with a good HD source that is.

Are you mainly going to use the TV to watch normal TV or is there any chance of an HD source being connected like Sky HD or gaming with an Xbox 360 ?

If you're sticking with normal SD sources then you might be as well getting a CRT and waiting until there's more HD content available before making a move to LCD. On the other hand the Sharp P series LCD TV's such as the P70 are very good with SD sources and can also scale HD sources to fit their screen. HD Ready LCD TV's can also show a good pic with SD sources as well though, but they do tend to emphasise any deficiencies in the signal.

LCD black levels used to be a drawback but I've been happy with the performance of the TV I have, I haven't noticed any ghosting issues either.

I replaced a 29" CRT in a bedroom with a 26" Sony S2010 LCD and it was the right thing for me to do as I needed the space (basically couldn't keep a bulky CRT in the room) and use it as a normal TV as well as with my XBox 360 and as a second monitor for my PC.

To give an indication of the quality you could expect there are some photo's below

There was mention on here of a HD CRT coming at a very reasonable price - but once I had seen My Sammy HD LCD in the flesh upscaling a good quality DVD ( Sin City for eg) I was completely blown away
