Has anyone got any experiences with LCD v Back lit LED screens?
If you had the same model screen except one was a back lit LED version, would there be a difference?

What exactly does the LEDs backlighting the screen actually do ?

Nahh not trying to escape, I love this forum. Im learning so much here, can't wait to wind up and bamboozal those monkeys working in my local "computer-world" store. (oh how I dislike them and that store with a passion).

Thanks for the link, I now understand LED Backlighting. In essence, a cheap TN panel, using W-LED technology has no impact on the brightness of the screen as it can not adjust the brightness of individual zones of the screen. Therefore it is a bit pointless. The only benefits are a) a physically thinner monitor and b) it uses less power. However,
LEDs degrade at a different rate to the rest of the TFT and long term gives you a worse screen than a non-LED backlit monitor.

Wow,

See, every day is a school day.
