well, i at least want 23 inch, but i want the best quality you can get for sub £600. what would be better for games and movies and tv. a lcd or hdtv.
if somone could recommend me a monitor/tv, that would be great
cheers

from an HDtv for that sort of price you are talking about a Samsung 26" mentioned in this thread

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17473967

or an LG 26LX2R

I personally prefer the Samsung but its personal taste really ( I have used both extensivly)

both are decent tv's , LG doesnt include freeview and has manual input selection - but its about evens on picture quality etc

From a Monitor point of view you will get a higher resolution but probably a lower size of picture, yuou may be able to get a 24" widescreen , but make sure you get a DVI input ( not meaning to treat you as stupid but I have noticed a lot of the cheaper 24" only have analogue inputs) but I think its more likely for that price you will have to go for a quality 20-23" possibly a Dell 2005FPW or something ( even though these have back light issues)

Read the whole of the Sammy thread ( all 20 odd pages) I think you may get a few more opinions there

Or read the most recent posts in the Monitor section ( quite a few posts regarding tv's are there)

Just to clarify. LCDs can be HDTVs. HD is purely the resolution at which the tv can receive and display (720/1080). HD is available on many LCDs, Plasmas, projectors, rear projectors and some CRTS, basically all types on tv.
