whats the crack with these then? i know that led is a light emmiting diode (or many in a monitor) but whats the difference between that and lcd? which is better etc (i suspect theres pros and cons to both)
You refer to LCD as incorrect in this context because LCD is the technology for the screen.
CCFL vs LED would be better because these are the backlighting technology in question.
Power consumption. Quicker 'warm up times' are probably the only ones that users will notice/need as well as a thinner base, perhaps less heat also not that if a properly cooled monitor will matter anyway.
The contrast ratio quoted is not relevant (ACR/Dynamic).
Oh yes also LEDs are also brightner - not sure why you want that only if you look at the monitor in a very bright room anyway.
Iv got a LED and pretty happy with it. Blacks are very good and its nice the screen is soo thin but i wasn't really blown away coming from a really cheap TN 24". Im not really sure i would get blown away by a monitor double the price though.
