I went in a high street shop and was told. The screen was all LED not backlit is that possible or was he talking out of his arse ?

He was talking from his behind. Many of the "purple shirt brigade" type guys do. Either they're misinformed (most likely), or simply think they can get away with it.

An "All LED" screen would be an OLED panels. There are none of these available in the mainstream yet (the closest to mainstream is the 15" OLED TV from LG, which retails at around £1500).

OLED is the wave of the future, and improves on LCD in just about every way imaginable. But, it'll be a couple of years yet before they're affordable in decent sizes.

Yeah thanks I thought so I said to him what's OLED then. Oh that will be see through TV apparently lol ! Maybe that's true who knows.

That is one possibility for OLEDs - transparency. Not the most useful for consumer TVs and monitors though.
