LCDs that don't suffer from bad light leakage?

Ok, all LCDs are gonna have some degree of light leakage but are there any £200 range LCDs that don't suffer as much from this horrible side effect? I've shunned all LCDs for the last year or so but i'm really getting sick of this ugly CRT i have and would like to find an LCd i like.

Stuck/dead pixels are another pitfall but that really can't be helped so come on, give me some good advice and help me finally find an LCD i like!

We'll I've bought 4 TFT's over the last 2 years and never had a problem with dead pixels or backlight bleed. Even if you do get backlight bleed it's hardly noticeable especially when in windows or playing games.

I wouldn't read to much into the problems on this forum as most of them are isolated issues. (except for the ASUS) eg: I've just bought myself a Samsung 226BW, I've heared nothing but problems with the panels and colour profiles on this forum, but I can assure you it's on my desk and working perfectly.

On your budget I would go for the LG L226WTQ 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black/Silver.

I don't think there's any particular manufacturers that suffer less backlight bleed than any others, it's just a build quality issue where light escapes round the side of the LCD, and you can have it on pretty much any screen, except possibly high end screens like Eizo. My Dell 2007WFP has some backlight bleed, my previous Samsung SM913B had quite a lot. Just another LCD lottery reallly.

You only really see it in dark games or when watching movies with black borders (2.35:1 stuff) but it's certainly unpleasant though if you are doing one of those things, and why they can't build the screens better is beyond me.

We think alike  Surely a particular brand has a reputation for quality builds though? Anyone?? An LCD lottery is the exact thing i'm trying to avoid here as i can't be bothered with the hassle.

I recall seeing a few snaps of an Xerox screen, a year ago, and a black screen looked almost completely black with only very minimal bleeding around the edges. I was impressed but the panel had some other known issues, as well as being expensive, so i decided against it.

well dell has a rep for very good monitors, but basically all LCD's I've tried have got some atleast, but its only ever noticeable to me when booting up the pc. Otherwise I honestly don't notice it.

NEC I suppose, but you pay extra. Even then it's no guarantee, but at least NEC are keener than most to keep their customers happy. I've certainly read about backlight bleed problems on Samsung, LG, Viewsonic, Belinea and Dells. Not really enough coverage of Xerox screens to know what they're like.

get th LG, you wont ever look back, absolutely pristine monitors, and i think all monitors suffer backlight bleeding when trueblack shows around the edges.

Ok, tempted by the LG monitor - I found it for £240 with a dead pixel check (i wonder if that includes stuck pixels as they are the ones that are bothersome)

I'll spend a little time on here reading comments and maybe try find a few reviews and stew over it for a few days. Thanks for the help guys.

ocuk have it on offer this week for £205 so why not get it from here?

seems a bit excessive to get it checked for dead pixels only to find out the ride here has given it one >_<.
