Hi there,
I have a bay front window on my house and I'm currently in the process of getting quotes for a replacement as it leaks. It turns out this is an old lead roof and the last guy who quoted said it could be worth a bit. He's given me a fairly reasonable quote for the work but I'm wondering if this is down to the fact he can sell the lead roof he removes and make a profit after. Does anyone know (very roughly) how much it could be worth? I live in a mid-terrace house and the bay is a bog standard double glazed angled bay window on the living room.

just keep the lead and take down the scrappy your self

This. He's in the business to make money and not do you any favours. He'll be making a profit on the work and then on the lead. Pay for the work and keep the lead to be scrapped yourself.

It'll be worth about £40-£50 or so. Depends on the size, but that's the average price we get when we replace lead roofs on bays.

Only time we get a decent ammount of money for scrap is when replacing a full house of Aluminium windows. Usually get £100-£200 for that.

Thanks for the feedback. Definitely something to think about then!

Nothing agreed yet but the first point of the job is to "remove existing lead roof" so I'm presuming that's his idea.
If the price he's given me is reasonable taking into consideration £50-100 for the lead then he can do that. I've got someone else coming to take a look and quote on Saturday so I'll get a better feel for what the cost of this job should be.
