Hi, just got one to upgrade my 6800nu lol, at stock it performs on par with my 6800nu overclocked so thats preety good + at higher resolutions it handles it better.
Had my first shot at overclocking - got memory to 1130.
Then tried the core, 410 fair enough not bad at 1.3V
Upped the volts to 1.4V - now I cant even reach 410 it artifiacts well before that.

What could be the problem? Is it the bios? Should I download the latest bios?
When I had my 6800nu I found just modding the original bios was best as with newer bios's it would heat up quicker, will the newest bios be worse for my gfx card?
The current bios on is 5.40.02.15, I just went onto the mvktech website and there seems to be 5 different versions lol - which one would be the best the latest one?

I'm using ATI Tool as a means of testing for artifacts.

Why did you up the voltage when you had it working fine without the voltage increase? You've already got it to 6800ultra speeds (400/1100) which isn't too bad, some cards do clock better than others so 410/1130 may be about your limit but it is still a decent enough overclock. Also what sort of cooling do you have on the card?

Well I might be expecting a bit too much from the card lol - afterall I could clock my 6800nu to 430/800 with a 1.5V core.
I'm just trying to get the most out of it - If I could overclock it past 440 on the core I'd be happy, but to get artifacts after a 1.4v change and well below 410 overclock there must be something else interfering with the overclock?
I'm using the stock cooling and I load about 70, should i update it to the latest bios or is the original bios the best?

Right I just checked all the bios's properly, checked the 5 different versions on this page

http://www.mvktech.net/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,26/func,selectfolder/cat,71/page,3/

The first two seems to be the same bios's for two different boards? the nv40 board 20172996 and 20172997.
Third bios is something completly different
The 4th and 5th bios are the newest bios's for both cards 20172996 and 20172997.
I just backed up my bios and it says its a 20172996 card.
Should i therefore flash the new version of 20172996 (4th bios).

Sounds like its overheating due to the voltage increase which is causing the artifacts. reseat heatsink with some AS5 or a zalman vf700-cu or something. (vf700 should push you above 440 :) )

Yep im suspecting your right, I think I might be able to get my hands on a vf700 fairly cheap so might just wait till then, should I update that bios however? seems like its a revised version of the original for this board (maybe they optimised something so re-released it!)

Don't overclock too high, those Leadtek cards are not very good, mine died just after a few months. And caused the death of my friend's mobo when I asked him to test it for me :( I shall never buy a Leadtek card again.

LOL - sorry to laugh, nah it should be fine I think you were just unlucky afterall heat kills if you monitor your temps it should be ok.
I did have a leadtek 6800nu before this anyways.

Ok I did some reading around - and apparently the temp of your gpu and the clock of it doesnt matter if you have bad mosfets?
I'm trying to up the voltage to 1.4v but its completly unstable even when on stock clock speeds at that voltage - i'm guessing the powerside of the card and mosfets whatever they are arent sufficiant, what can i do about that? I reckon this card can get one hell of an overclock if its max overclock at 1.3V is 410 (420 nvidia autodetect), my 6800nu could run at 380 with 1.2 volts and that oced to 430 with a 1.5v core, my gt is at 410 with a 1.3V so the core seems fine, just these bloody power things seem bad.

Here Here. I had 3 Leadtek 6800GTs die on me within 2 - 3 months of one another. One even took my motherboard with it. If you have a working Leadtek 6800GT then I wouldn't mess with it.

my leadtek manages 440 on the core on stock voltages with an ac on it memory does 1150/1200

doesnt break 60c under load either

just shy of 6k 3dmark 2005

5958

not to bad

I dont think buying a different cooler will make any difference to my overclock over stock voltages - afterall I need more volts on the core not to make it cooler to overclock further, just this goddamn volt problem has left me a bit gutted how I cant up the voltage without screwing the card up, can't understand why my 6800nu managed it fine and this cant.
