Leaf blower PSU where do I stand?

I had a jeantech 600w (for real) silent psu and it done me fine up to the point my 8800gtx arrived. Its thursday evening and I want to game but my pc keeps shutting off, after consulting the forums, it was decieded it was my psu.

I then impaitently rush out to get the best PSU I can (could not wait for tuesday) and buy a jeantech 700W 'storm' (£80), it looked perfect. Sure enough my pc is now stable but once it gets started it NEVER stops and gets noisy once in windows and browsing the net, load up a game and its 'leaf blower time'.

On the box it states 'total silence' should and do I have a right to take it back and if so what will quietly power the following:

1x8800gtx
1xcore2duo (for benching sometimes about 1.6v hehe)
2x1gb
1xoc'd max voltaged mobo
2xcold cathode
3x120mm
1xspot cool
1xsoundcard
2xdvdrw
2xhdd

(looking to spend about £100 as the GTX has already cost me enough money and stress :rolleyes:

ps at MAX the psu wattage monitor shows up to 250w in games and 160w idle surely that is wrong :confused:

Should be, a lot of people say its enough for SLi too.

it works fine but its noise is driving me crazy

You do have the right, if they advertise as "Silent" I would pressume if its not, you have a right to complain.

Although im not sure if its even a overly good PSU anyway.

Right, lil update after drop kicking the nerd in that big pc highstreet retailer i got my refund

I went to go for the cosair but it was not in stock so I have went for the

You won't be going far wrong with that one!

To be honest, Jeantech aren't exactly the best as I'm sure anyone round here will tell you, it's a real shame that you can't get a decent make PSU on the high street.

I understand that they have to gouge us on the prices to keep those expensive shop fronts, but if you're desperate for a part, be nice if you could get one that was any good.

You won't regret buying that Seasonic. It really is excellent. I bought one a couple of months ago to replace my blown Hiper and it is superb. It is silent and the black braiding on the cables looks excellent.

I paid a lot less than that though.

PC's are an expensive business :rolleyes:

but rewarding when it all works. Hopefully I will have a nice quiet rig again now.. I love using the p5wdh remote to silence everything

I'm looking for a new PSU as well. How much did you pay for your 650W Seasonic?

I got the Corsair 620w from overclockers when I built mine. It Seems very stable and appears to be almost completely silent. It also runs very cool...like really cool I've never felt any heat coming from it!
