Leaked Duke Nukem gameplay

It looks awesome, I can't believe 3DR went under, as I said on the 3DR forum, it kinda serves them right for spending 12 years making one game but Duke Nukem is/was one of my favourite franchises and it sucks that we won't get to see this now. :(

Yeah, the game is canned (as far as I know) and 3DR has gone under, so basically now all of the people who were working on the game at 3DR are releasing images and gameplay footage of the game etc.

Looks legit, if you follow the link at the end it takes you a modellers webpage. He says as part of his resume he can send a video clip of his latest work but only to other developers.

There was a video years ago, think it was about 1997 that looked really good. Even something where you could fly around a map or look at physics, models or anything really for them to get some cash

Thats probably been thrown out tbh, they've been through numerous engine changes since then

Why does anyone care about this? it was never going to be released, even looking how it does in that video, had they not gone under it would only have been a matter of time before they jumped engine and added another few years to the tab.

Can you imagine the interview?

Interviewer: So what was the last project you worked on?
Applicant: Duke Nukem Forever
Interviewer: And how long did you work on this project for?
Applicant: About 12 years
Interviewer: Wow, must have been a pretty ambitious project. Must have looked great when it was finished.
Applicant: Yea...... about that....

Must have been an awesome 12 years for the employees though, working for over a decade without deadlines or anything. 3D realms is probably a grand example of "when its done" being a stupid philosophy in game development, but kudos to them for actually sticking with it to the death. Every other developer that has ever uttered it has invariably caved in at some point to the "this will do - patch later depending on success" stance.

releasing duke could have stopped them going under. hopefuly someone will put some funding in to complete the project as someone will still own the rights.

Looking very nice there. Perhaps Take Two will actually take up the mantle of development after all, but can only hope that someone will keep it going. I doubt they'd keep the same production strategy however. They'll set a deadline and fund it up to that point. Here's hoping there's life in the project yet.
