Hi - wonder if anyone can help.
I drive a Hyundai Coupe 2.0 SE '99. I was driving home the other night and my temp guage went up to max in a heartbeat. I then started seeing and smelling smoke from my bonnet, so I pulled over and turned the car off immediately.
I called the AA out and they had a look. They discovered a small leak in the radiator and suggested that the leak had been happening for a while and the reason for the immediate impact of overheating, it finally ran out at that time.
He checked the head gasket / thermostat and they were all fine which was a relief, to say the least. He then managed to get water flowing through the system again after it had leaked out. Driving home, the temp was all fine and everything seems normal again.
He put in this K-Seal stuff which I understand is a temporary fix for leaks but will not last? It has worked to date.
1st question - does anyone have any experience of using K-Seal and what are your thoughts on it and blocking holes?
2nd question - as this K-Seal stuff is apparently a temporary fix, I want to get it into a garage ASAP to review the radiator damage; however, before I do, can anyone let me know roughly how much these things cost and should I visit a scrapyard or similar before to see if I can find a suitable replacement for cheaper than new?
Thanks
Tom
