Bon Soir La OcUK!

Well I have been going to a "French For Beginers" Class for about 3 months now, and im realy enjoying it, if someone walks past me speaking french I can catch the odd word etc.

But I was just wondering if there is anything complimentry I can do to the course im on as it is only 2 hours a week.

While I am learning, I would like to learn a bit more, and do it more regularly so as to not forget what I learnt in the first lesson etc.

I have a course called Pimsular French, but I am not sure if this is any good (Was a present) and if it will be benificial, or harmfull to the course I am on.

I have also been wondering if watching french movies would be of help, as I have had people tell me they learnt English by watching English movies... but I dont know any French movies, they are very rarely on TV and no where sells them...

Any advice on how to make it stick better, and to learn more would be great!

I once watched the blair witch project in french :D didn't understand a word but still enjoyed it

I learn't spanish at school, 5 hours a week really drums it into lol, i know there are dvd's you can buy from supermarkets with voice recognition and stuff to help you learn

If you can, regularly listen to radio, watch their TV, read their books, read their papers. Talk to their people, visit their websites, eat their food, go to their country.

In other words... be a french person.

Exact! Spending time in a foreign country is the best way to learn the language.

Some of us are lucky though and born that way ;)

Nice choice of language I must add.

Sadly while at Uni I cant swan off to France, nor Can I imagine it would be financialy viable to relocate to a country where I know no one, have no job and cant speak the language very well.....
