Learning how to drive in PGR3

I'm getting the hang of not crashing into every barrier at every turn on a track, however I just don't seem to have the (mad)skills to win at anything over novice level. I think the problem stems from my 'digitial' mindset from playing PC games. Accelerate being either accelerate or not accelerate and brake being brake or not brake. I'm trying to learn this 'new' way of analogue driving but it isn't going too well. Either I underbrake or underaccelerate.

Any tips for someone starting out in this very pretty game?

Nope, I beat the game on hard using full on and full off on the throttle and brake. Just go outside edge-inside edge-outside edge on every corner and the game becomes incredibly easy. Don't steer when braking hard and have braking finished by the time you are in the corner then have full throttle at the apex of the corner.

Edit: Don't drift, you go incredibly slow compared to people doing the corners properly.

I started to use cadence style braking to good effect in the game. It helped me to find the right speed to handle the corner. It's not the fastest way round but if you don't know a corner that well then it's certainly not the slowest.

Not trying to hijack your thread SID but seeing as this about PG3 maybe kreeeee or someone else can tell me how they went about completing all the championship in the single player career mode because i started on silver and have 3 championships to go to complete it on silver but should i have started on steel and then moved up to bronze and so on ???

SID if you fancy a bash on live sometime let me , gametag = MIKEL11 .

I started on hard/silver, things i couldn't be bothered with i just did silver and the rest i did on hard. At the end I got points for completing the lowest to silver.

If you feel confident that you can shave the extra time off your lap times for the extra level go for it, at the end of the day its more cash in your pocket.

Also, its pretty easy to jump into a quick car straight away, I went for the Noble to start, onto a F430, then into a Lambo R-GT, now I have many garages full of cars, including all lambo's and ferarri's.

So, stick at it and you'll improve. :)

I complete all my games by going on the medium difficulty. On the easy races on PGR3 (about 15 of them) I obliterated the silver score so I went back and did them on the hardest difficulty.

Best to start on medium I reckon.

I agree, its best to do all the challenges on medium so that you can progress skillfully through all the different type of races, then when your done there move onto the platinums.

Was it me or where the platinums no-where near as hard to get as on PGR2??? I seemed to complete the game on platinum far too easy.

ive done it on a platinum

breaking and turning can sometimes be good :S

just find the racing line, from the outter edge meet the apex and accelerate so your 1 m from the wall

thanks guys thats what i wanted to know , if only i could do them all on hardest level then i could get all the points for the lower levels , i know i could win quite a few on plat but struggle on others .

Are there any lists of what the best cars are for each circuit/challenge?

As an old-timer (49) I need all the help I can get.
I've completed on bronze, and done about half on silver, and a couple of golds. I find the cone and drift challenges fairly easy, using the Noble M14, but the races and overtakes are testing my patience.
The Nurburgring seems almost impossible.

I've had the game 3 weeks, playing for an hour or two each day, and it's the first console driving game I've ever tried.
How long did it take other people to get good at this game?

Most cars are fairly quick around all of the circuits once you have got the feel for them. You will find that some of the gearing in certain cars favours some circuits over others, but you only really find that out when you are getting really good at the game where its in your advantage to use manual a lot :)

The CLK-GTR is perhaps the easiest to drive of the really, really quick cars - you shouldnt struggle on medium with that car. For some of the hardcore races I am using the F50GT and finishing miles ahead of the rest of the computer cars so I would assume it can be done with a fair few of the "slower" cars too.

The M14 ought to be fast enough at those sort of levels really.

OK, I'll try the Merc.

If you reckon that the M14 should be quick enough, maybe it's my cornering ability that's the problem. In the overtake challenges, I often end up a few seconds behind the lead car, only achieving 4 of the 5 required overtakes.

I do like the M14, as it suits my on/off throttle style!
