Hello guys,

I am currently working shift and fortunate enough to have a couple of guitars lying around in work. I've always wanted to learn the guitar, to the fact that I acctually own one! But can't.

Has anyone got any decent sites etc to look at? Work computers block access to youtube etc, so videos are out. Need something very simple, as I have no idea where to begin.

Many thanks :)

Got anything to play DVDs on? You could give LickLibrary a shot. There's a slight chance that site might slip past the work filters, so you could browse the freebie lessons too.

Justinguitar is worth a look, even without the videos. Depending on how they did it you should be able to circumvent a work filter.

Although i have to ask... what's your job? Do you actually have so little to do that you can learn guitar and get paid for it? :p

Thanks, trying just now. I doubt it though, its a very tight censor :(

I don't mean to sound pessimistic but without any video access it's going to be near impossible unless you have someone literally with you to teach you.

Your best bet is to learn how to read tab...even then your technique is going to suck with no videos / teacher :(

Read this http://guitar.about.com/od/tabchordslyrics/ss/read_guitar_tab.htm

Then go on http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ and search for songs you want to learn.

Appreciated. Using Justin's lessons just now, at the very least I can get used to some of the notes, chords, strumming etc. Then do some lessons when I go home. Got a friend who is VERY, very good who should give me some lessons in exchange for some beer tokens.

Its just all very boring to begin with if I'm honest. Something to do during nightshift.

Military, so well yes. It's such a hard life! :)

Had a look at that and been using it, pretty useful. For obvious reasons, I'd rather not workaround the filter.
