Learning to drive question

Hello
My dad has a company car, so can't teach me to drive in it. If i bought my own car, had insurance for it (even thought i'd only have a provisional license), if i bought some L plates, could my dad teach me to drive in it (i mean, legally)? (assuming his insurance covers it... which i assume it will?)

Also how much are intensive courses (approx)? How long do they normally take? Are they worth it?

He could teach you, but you would have to be insured on it in name or by some other means i.e "Any driver with policy holder's permission clause".

Intensive courses usually take a few days to a week, they usually pass you so they are worth it in that sense. I don't know how much they cost.

I'm tempted to do one tbh, so i'll be driving for this summer.

I'm saying that you have to be insured on it to drive it even though you have a provisional. I might have got you wrong when you said:

Which I took to mean "Can I drive it if I get my dad insured on it and he sits in the passenger seat?"
