Learning to fly

Arghhh it is so annoying learning to fly with this weather. I am only 7 hours in but my last 6 lessons have been cancelled including today!

I was really hoping to pass this year but looks more like next summer.

A friend of mine is a pilot with Easyjet. I've not seen him recently, but when the recession hit, they put himself and a lot of pilots on a kind of forced sabbatical. They could remained employed by the airline, but would be forced to have a number of months off. I'm not sure whether his hours have improved much now.

when i was instructing, i always dreaded PPLs coming in who had learned in the states. (almost) always needed a huge amount of remedial work to get them up to standard.

this isn't true for everyone of course, but i would say most. its a common theme among the flying community in the uk.

the US style of flying is so laid back compared to here, and as a result, coming into the more regimented and structured uk flying world is a shock to most. (and their instructor)

Nice bump!

How's the flying going cheechm?

I'm stewing my brains out for the Principles of Flight, Performance and Mass & Balance exams in 2 weeks. Bleurgh.

ATPL exams? Much fun.

Flying is just about going. Expensive, but good fun. I must get some pics up when I have a chance.

I've said it before, but we really should try and arrange an Ocuk fly-in :D

Good luck Scuzi, the ATPLs are fairly dull but its worth it in the end!

To anyone else wanting to learn to fly then BA is opening their part-sponsorship scheme in a few days:
