How easy is it to ride a bike? Is it easy to pick up?

I know you can do a CBT, but does that actually learn you the basics of the bike form gear changing to cornering etc?

How easy is it doing the gear changes, also cornering is that like a pedal bike when you go around a corner?

Sorry for all the questions. It's something I have recently started to think about more as I have got older.

Nobody can really answer that question, everyone learns things differently, the best thing to do is just do your CBT, its not that expensive and then you will know if biking is for you :)

Gear changes are easy once youve done it a few times, finding the biting point takes some getting used to though.
In my opinion nothing like a pedal bike on cornering, and I do both everyday, the only similarity is slow speed stuff, and that feels different because of the weight, I think its over 20mph on a motorbike and counter steering takes over, kind of hard to explain really but it just works, you push the inside of the handlebar to corner, so push the left handlebar to go left and vise verse, I'm sure there are probably plenty of Youtube videos showing this.

I struggled quite a bit with roundabouts when learning, no idea why, but within 2 years I was pretty fast on track days and could corner until I ran out of knee sliders!

It feels natural to corner at speeds after a while. You just instinctively know which way to tilt. I did my CBT a month or so ago and have been on the road for 3 weeks. My first time out on my own I was ****ing myself but now I feel it's as easy as walking.

Also when you first pull the throttle back (providing on you're on a twist and go) otherwise, let the clutch out, a smile will form on your face as you realize how fun it is and how you can move with no effort - unlike a push bike.

Give it a go if It's something you want to do, don't leave it for years and years, like I did cos I now regret all the lost time and fun I could have had.

On the counter steering part, don't try and read too much about it, it will pickle yr brain....best way is to practice on an empty car park or the like, at a relatively slowish speed. I couldn't get my head round it till I did it myself tbh.

I have just done a DAS course and all past within 10 days, go do a CBT see if you like it, only one way to find out, the only thing i regret is leaving it so late to do.
