Ok after years and years of using Windows on a PC at home, knowing more or less everything inside out, Ive just got a job which is going to be mostly mac-based.

Apart from using one a few times before, im nowhere near the same level of knowledge as I am for Windows. Even the simple stuff I have no idea about, such as keyboard shortcuts, and only today learnt that pressing space bar opens things!

What im wondering is, will it be very hard to learn? I mean just the OS basically...not seperate programs..as im sure that would be the same difficulty level as a PC...but the mac OS just...confused me! lol

Is true. The thing you should spend time learning is how to take advantage of the clever stuff that you haven't used before.

Also file management is different due to mac os and it's emphasis on dragging stuff rather than cutting and pasting.

You'll learn quickly if your job is dependent on it ;)

If you want to kick-start the process, take a trip to your local Apple store (if you have one) and book a few appointments for 1-to-1 tuition.

You don't have to book, you could always just hovering around the machines and play, but I'm betting they'll be able to see where you're getting stuck.

Have a look at the sticky for some basics, including app installation etc
