Leasing?

A friend in work is looking at leasing, now normally I'd think that was bad, but just over £200 a month for a brand new car worth around £16k, with servicing all done for free etc??
I don't like the idea due to the car never being yours, but can leasing be a good thing?? Also what sort of cars can you lease for around £200 - £300 a month?
