We have been with Orange for over 5 years now and we are moving to another ISP as my mum's BF is moving his business broadband to our house. Anyway I owe around 2 month's broadband to Orange which totals to £38 and the direct debit was cancelled by accident 2 months ago and I intended to offer to pay the outstanding money that I owe then when I first rang them up to request my MAC code.
So I rang them up and the first bloke who I spoke was actually at Technicial Support and he informed me that I do indeed need to pay up the rest of the outstanding bill before he would give me my MAC code and he said that he wouldn't be able to transfer me to the billing department and that I would need to hang up and ring them again and so I did.
Anyway this time I found the Cancellation department and this time I spoke to a lady and I informed her of what the first bloke told me and she said that he was wrong by what he said and then she put me on hold and then she came back saying that she spoke to her manager who said that by law THEY have to give me a MAC code as they are still providing me with a service and that I do not have to pay up the rest of the remaining money owed to them until I have migrated to the other provider and so I would receive my MAC code via email within 5 working days.
Now another family member of mine has said to me that apparently it is impossible for Orange to grant me a MAC code before I pay them the rest of the money that is owed but weather this is true or what the lady at customer services told me is true, what do you guys think?? I rang for the MAC code on Wednesday and still not had the code yet so I will give them till Tues.
Thanks all - Liam
